Hospitality Style Magazine

Audience: Suppliers of furniture, lighting, floor covering and other materials for the hospitality design industry
Items Produced: 2010 Media Kit

For its relaunch as an oversize “idea book” for hospitality designers, Hospitality Style magazine needed a media kit that reflected the new editorial product. I proposed a literal reproduction of the magazine’s unique-to-the-industry size, 10 by 12 inches, in a saddle-stitched “book” format rich with photography and light on text—just like the magazine.

Gatefold covers allowed us to keep critical advertising information such as rates, specs and due dates together on user-friendly spreads, away from the book’s storytelling pages. The gates also gave the covers heft, enhancing the book feel of the piece. A debossed logo on the stark white cover suggested a template or mold for the magazine to come, while the back cover invited prospects to Join us for the grand re-opening.

A grand new magazine.

Hospitality Style covers hospitality design with the eye of a fashion magazine, identifying trends and showcasing them seasonally in a photo-rich, large-scale format unique to the industry. Published quarterly and printed on premium stock, Hospitality Style is more idea book than magazine. More visual reference than industry journal. More flag-and-use than read-and-route. Which is why it enjoys a longer life … on the shelf, the desk, the coffee table.
